LONGINES, EQUESTRIAN SPORT AND TIMELESS PRECISION

A legacy shaped by tradition, elegance and performance

LONGINES and the equestrian world have long been united by a shared devotion to tradition, elegance, performance and the pursuit of excellence. As Official Timekeeper and Title Partner of some of the world's most prestigious equestrian events, the brand continues to strengthen a relationship with the sport that has endured for more than 150 years.

In 1878, Longines developed its first chronograph movement, mounted in a case engraved with a jockey and his horse.

LONGINES' passion for equestrian sports began in the years following the brand's inception. In 1869, the Swiss watchmaker produced its first pocket watch featuring an equestrian motif. Shortly thereafter, in 1878, the brand developed its first chronograph movement, housed in a case engraved with a jockey and his horse. The chronograph function, which enabled performances to be measured with precision and accuracy, made this type of timepiece particularly popular among horse owners and enthusiasts. These pioneering creations marked the beginning of LONGINES' enduring relationship with the equestrian world.

A new chapter began in 1912 when LONGINES became involved in an international jumping competition in Lisbon, Portugal, marking the start of a lasting and successful relationship with the discipline. Since then, the brand has steadily strengthened its presence in the equestrian world, becoming one of the sport's most recognised partners. Today, its involvement extends across jumping, dressage, eventing and flat racing, supporting some of the most prestigious competitions and championships.

Jumping occupies a special place within LONGINES' equestrian universe. One of the most spectacular and widely practised equestrian disciplines, it combines courage, precision, athleticism and technical skill. Success depends on the perfect harmony between horse and rider as they navigate a course of obstacles demanding speed, accuracy and control.

As Official Timekeeper of many of the world's leading jumping events and series, LONGINES plays a key role in supporting the sport at the highest level. By helping highlight the discipline's finest athletes and competitions, the brand contributes to the continued development and global prestige of jumping.

Today, LONGINES is more active than ever alongside the world's leading equestrian institutions and competitions, including the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), with a presence at renowned events across different disciplines. As Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the LONGINES Hong Kong International Horse Show 2027, the brand proudly celebrates a legacy that brings together horses, riders and spectators in a shared commitment to excellence.
